Technical Specifications and Server Requirements

 

Virtualization (VM) and Acumin
Acumin can be built utilizing a VM virtualization platform.  Virtualization dramatically improves the efficiency and availability of resources and applications in your organization. Internal resources are underutilized under the old “one server, one application” model and IT admins spend too much time managing servers rather than innovating.  Please consult your IT provider for specific questions pertaining to your environemnt.

Hardware Specifications:  

 

1.   Minimum Sever Requirements    

     1.1  Hardware:

 

    *   Important note:  Microsoft SQL Server Express editions have a maximum database limitation of 4 GB.

 

   1.2  Operating Systems and Software:

          - Windows Server 2003 or higher
            32 and 64-bit with SP2 (Std, Web, Ent and Small Biz editions)

          - Microsoft SQL Server 2005** or higher
            (Express, Standard, Workgroup and Enterprise editions) 

          ** For Acumin and Acumin.e, the Client is responsible for properly supplying the MS SQL and Windows server licenses.

 

2.   Minimum Client Requirements   

      2.1  Client Hardware:

      - 1 gigahertz (GHz) processor or higher

      - Memory 1 GB RAM or higher

      - Hard disk 50 megabyte (MB); a portion of this disk space will be freed after installation.

      - Display 1024x768 or higher resolution monitor with color quality of 16 bit

     

      2.2  Operating system and Software:

       - Windows® XP Pro 32-bit with SP2 or better or 

       - Windows Vista® 32-bit and 64-bit with SP1 (Business, Enterprise and Ultimate editions) or better

 


Technical Considerations:

 

       a)  Hard disk Configuration:

 

         Recommended disk partitioning to achieve optimized performance, redundancy and data integrity:

 

  RAID controller with 128Mb. of write-back cache memory

  *  2 Mirrored drives on Acumin.sme will significantly improvespeed and performance.

 

  Space requirements rule of thumb:

  • 1GB per attorney / lawyer allows for growth to 5,000 + matters per lawyer, time entries for 15 + years, case management entries for 15 + years and will accommodate all of the accounting and collections for the firm in all related and duplicated databases.

  • Additional Actual requirements and product functionality may vary based on your system configuration and operating system.

 

   b)  Supported Audited Platforms:

    - Windows Server 2003 / 2008 (32 and 64 bit)
      (Standard, Enterprise, Small Biz and Web)

     - Windows SQL Server 2005 / 2008
       (Standard, Enterprise Edition; plus Express Edition for Acumin.sme)

     - Windows Vista 32-bit (Business and Ultimate editions)

     - Windows Vista 64-bit with SP1 (Business and Ultimate editions)

     - Windows XP 32-bit (Pro and Home)

     - Windows XP Pro 64-bit 

 

    c) Supported Handheld Devices:

      - BlackBerry PDA (with Desktop Software v4.2 or higher and BlackBerry® Device Software v4.2 or higher)

      - Windows Pocket PC, version 4.x or higher

      - Windows SmartPhone version 4.x or higher

      - Apple iPhone version 1.x or higher

 

    d)  Detailed Software requirements:

     The following software (accordingly to 32 / 64 bit tech.) needs to be installed to support application functionality if not already present:

      - NET 2.0 Runtime

      - NET 2.0 Language Pack (if necessary)

      - MDAC 2.8

      - Crystal Reports® 11.5 R2
